here's some finds i made with my silver umax. 1907d barber dime, 1945d merc, '46 quarter, 1904 indian head, 1915 buffalo, no date buffalo, excelsior shoe company boy scout token dated july 1910 under the horse and rider, and a 10k class ring found on a hard hunted football field. the ring was the first target i dug there with my new silver umax. happy hunting.............roger
I really like the Boy Scout token, I like the neat tokens and oddball finds better than the silver coins. That is usually the case with non key date silver. I just like the surprise finds like that and these types of finds are fun to research.HH.............Hombre
monte, these finds were made within the last month at 3 different sites. the ring came from the football field, the silver dimes, buffalo nickels, indian head and token came from an old picnic grounds, and the silver quarter came from my dad's yard. sorry if i gave the impression they were all found at one worked out site. the old picnic grounds was hunted by two guys for two days before we had the chance to hunt it. the land owner told me they had around 300 coins and pieces of jewelry from those two days hunting. we found over 40 silver coins there plus several indian heads and wheat cents. oldest coin was a 1864 2 cent piece. my hunting buddy found a 14k gold cross there, but we have not found any other gold items there. the grove covers about 2 to 3 acres and has some huge old oak trees and i'm sure there are still some coins left, but its getting harder to find them there.
i plan on taking my new cibola there this weekend to see iof it can find anything my silver umax missed. good hunting...........roger
well tvr, i'm sure gonna give it another try with my new cibola that is on its way to me. we sure found some nice old silver there and i can only imagine what the other two guys found ahead of us. it sure is fun popping old coins one after the other outta the ground without having to deal with modern coins and pulltabs. might be a good reason to get the 12x10 coil for the cibola....good hunting ........roger
