Recent comparison, MX Sport-ATGold-Deus-Blisstool V6

Old California

New member
Recently, Picked up an AT Gold. Excellent detector one of my favorites, have owned one before, Always liked the all-metal feature for my soil and fresh water black sand.

Please don't view this as my way of bashing a particular detector, all have there strong points as well as weak. These are results from my type of soil, yours may vary and a detector that operates well or not in my soil may have completely different results in yours.

In slightly mineralization, the Deus, MX Sport and AT Gold in Prospecting mode were very close on depth with the exception the Deus ID was weak not as good as AT Gold or MX Sport. But audio was there with the Deus, just wouldn't ID as deep as the AT Gold or MX Sport.

With discrimination mode, here's were it changed. The MX Sport in Relic mode was deeper than the AT Gold or Deus in discrimination mode, MX Sport ID was better and Audio was stronger on deeper targets. The only detector deeper than the MX Sport in discrimination mode was the Blisstool V6, now I didn't use the v6 in the all metal mode comparison. Because operating the Blisstool all metal has no form of discrimination and yes it will detect deeper in all metal but I need some form of discrimination using all metal mode.

In my soil, both the AT Gold and MX Sport using Prospecting mode was very close on depth with the Blisstool v6 when using discrimination mode. Those looking for more depth in mineralization, even slightly mineralized soil use all metal mode or Prospecting mode with the AT Gold, MX Sport or MXT. You'll see a difference, added depth and improved stability. But in areas laced with iron or trash by all means use a discrimination mode.

Overall, Each of these Detectors are strong performers. Deus is still my favorite for those extreme case's with iron patches, MX Sport or AT Gold are no slouch either in thick iron. Blisstool v6 is a strong performer as well with ore mode, everyone has their favorite for particular types of soil.

Just wanted to share, MX Sport has an edge in my soil.

Thanks for the comparisons Paul!

Hello Steve,

AT Gold ...8.5" x 11" DD
Deus.........11" DD
MX Sport..10" DD

AT Gold is no sleeper, Prospecting mode enhances depth both Audio and Visual ID. I'm seeing same depth comparison with MX Sport, maybe a hair more but hardly noticeable with MX Sport with Prospecting mode.

However, Hands down MX Sport has so much more to offer. SAT one of them, but over all both are great!

Flipping over to disc mode, MX Sport has the edge on depth in mineralization. But I prefer Prospecting mode, use it when I can with both AT Gold or MX Sport.

Take care,
Paul

You're welcome Ron,

I'll be dipping both AT Gold and MX Sport soon, ran out of energy this weekend for our local river. The river 100 Yard's behind my home dried up, the next closest river is 30 miles.

Thanks Ron,
Paul

Thanks Paul.

Here in SD but haven't had a chance to hunt yet.

Have you tried the dried up river for those hard to get targets that may have been missed when the river was flowing?

Hello El,

Not yet, in two week's on my next days off. Surely, I'll be out there water or not, you're right always targets left when water dries out.

Enjoy the weather, you're very fortunate. And relish each moment with your family :)

See you El!

It was nice to read an objective opinion of the actual performance of the MXS, without comments about the negative issues.

THANK YOU!

I had an at gold and really liked it... I want to get a MX sport ...i will prob wait til next spring. I only used the 5x8 coil on the gold and man I got good depth and separation with that coil. I'am really excited about the MX sport. But I have so many Detectors all the time...it can wait. Just check out my YouTube channel. Type in " Jeremiah Martel" thanks and enjoy !

Hello MI-AuAg,

As much as I enjoy the MX Sport, I'll be the first to admit it's not perfect. Has it's fair share of weak area's. But, It's strengths outweigh the weak area's and that I am extremely grateful.

Haven't experienced cracks on the screen, so far it's doing well and is such a joy to use.

Because of my soil, finding myself using Prospecting mode more than Relic mode. Same with the AT Gold, use Prospecting mode about 80-90 percent.

Thanks MI-AuAg,
Paul

Hello Jeremiah,

You bet, I'll check out your Video later in the week when I hook-up with wifi.

And thanks for sharing your experience with the smaller coil on the AT Gold, I have one too and will use it mainly for fresh water and iron laced sites.

Thanks again Jeremiah,
Paul

The V6 is the only one of those I have not ran. I've said all the while that the MXS handles bad soil pretty doggone good for a VLF machine, but the other issues with it clouded people's perception of it, and I don't think people will ever really give it a chance now.
