What are the laws like when it comes to treasure hunting with a metal detector there in Japan? Is it pretty much the same there as it is here or are they strict?

Here in Okinawa, I have not had much trouble back in the jungle sites...Most people are nice and don't care..Just stay away from the big tourist sites! I'm sure there is some laws and the archaeologist maybe upset if they saw you in a few places.I have worked with the archaeologist about 20 years ago. They were real nice to me...I think now they may be a little more cold to the idea of help from us! It is just a different kind of setup here and I will just stay to myself and out of sire most of the time...The Japanese just don't have the interest like we wester people do!
