I found this at 8" deep.
The obverse reads "Millard Fillmore 13th President U.S.A. 1850-1853"
The reverse reads "Famous as a tariff advocate congressman vicepresident. Became president upon taylor's death. Passed fugitve slave bill."
Around the edge of the reverse it reads "The American Louis Phillippe"

It's a little larger than a quarter and not sure what it's made of, but it was very corroded.

Any ideas?

Possibly a token from Shell gasoline, 1970's vintage. Made of copper. I tried to post a link to a site but the forum here wouldn't allow it. Try this and go to the top link.

Its not from Shell, I have dug a few of those. They are aluminum and have a fairly plain back, which only says something like Shell Oil Presidents Coin Game. I know that Reader Digest put out a set, years ago.

Compare yours to ebay item number 200405765401 and see what you think. Says they were from the 1990's. I thought it was earlier than that.

Okay, I was wrong about that last post. Here are some ebay auction numbers much closer to what you have. The third is just like it. Don't think they are Readers Digest either now. None of the sellers say where they come from. They don't look like the Sunoco tokens either though.

Anyone know why I can't edit my previous posts??

Yep, that's it. The third number has the same token or what ever this is on that page. It's definately not alluminum and I think it's pretty old as it was at least 8 inches down. I almost quit digging for it and everything I have dug at this depth in this spot has been pretty old, indian head cents, silver coins etc..
I sent the person who has it up for sale on ebay a message asking about it. Hope I hear back from them.

Thanks for all your help.

Dan
