Really loving the Omega

I picked up detecting late last fall after a 20+ year absense. I purchased a G2 while in the back of my mind I wasn't sure if that's what I really wanted. Only a couple of weeks ago I traded the G2 for an Omega and am really loving it. For ME it seems a lot easier to pick up, but I probably didn't give the G2 its full due because of a lack of confidence. I've been out 4 times (a total of 8 hrs) since I've had my Omega. The first night out in my own backyard (house built in late 60's) I found 36 clad coins. The second night at a friends house, I picked up my first siver - a 29 Mercury. About 5 minutes later I got a faint signal that registered quarter at 8". I dug as deep as my Lesche would go and wasn't deep enough. Our ground is really dry and I thought no way. A little more digging and out popped what first appeared to be a token but upon further review was an extremely worn Seated Liberty Quarter. It was my first in all the years I've detected - I was estatic. The weird thing is at this point I had yet to find a wheatie. For the week I put in 8 hours detecting time in 3 different yards and have found 102 coins, including the Seated Liberty, a Mercury, a silver Roosie, 10 wheat cents dating back to 1916, a Susan B.Anthony dollar and the rest clad.

Now that is one heck of a start with a new detector. The Omega really is one sweet detector. I would go back to your friends yard that gave up the seated and really pound that sucker. Welcome to the Omega fold. HH jim tn

Another first! Last night I found my first Barber dime. Its extremely worn but not quite as bad the Seated Liberty.
