Really like the digital camera for ...

... taking pictures of my better metal detecting finds. I used to scan my finds but think digital camera pics are definitely better in most cases. Below is a ring I found saturday. Note that it is pretty much as taken and has not been particularly optimized ... even left some dirt in the groves. 8^)

I enjoy doing the same but my problem is I don't seem to find much lately. Went out yesterday afternoon and found about 5 in change and a silver ring that had been there quite a while. I plan on going again this afternoon. GOLD GOLD

Found this about a month ago . I't my last find since then. The diamond is a fraction less than a quater caret and is of good quality so I'm told but the ring is really samll. OLD GOLD

Nice ring Tom!
I'm mostly a coinshooter these days so don't get a lot of jewelry. During the summer when the ground gets too baked I will hunt beaches and/or shallow water which is where I pick up my jewelry. It's obviously a different type of detecting.
I used to scan my finds or borrow the digital camera from work occasionally. It's MUCH nicer having your own digital camera to play around with. I actually enjoy taking pictures of my finds and post processing them almost as much as finding them (it sure is easier physically ).
Keep postin' those photos ... I'll keep lookin' !
