never much payed much attention to the cz line up but after watching a few vids on youtube i think detector is kicka$$ and boy does it love silver but well see how my new 1236x2 will perform before i'll take the plunge i know i may not have quite the depth but we'll see anyway'a super detector!

I think what your using is more on the 1200 series type but indeed the 1236 is one underated detector...As far as CZ's been a depth monster for years starting with the originally CZ6 in 92....

Owning 2 CZ's and a 1236 I can tell you for sure the Cz's are deeper, but the 1236 with the 4 or 5 inch coil, 4 is the best in heavy trash, is a little better to hunt with on a trash ladden graded lot, although both are very good. So that 1236 is a keeper, now add a CZ to the arsenal.

i would like to but to much money for me at the moment, far as depth i would think the 1270 would holds its own but i really do like the look and sound of the cz3d for sure

Although I have not used a 1270 it is still a 12 series machine. while the 12's are highly respected I have never heard anyone say they will match a CZ in raw depth or handle bad ground better. The advatages I can for sure say they have is they are lighter than a CZ, and have a little faster target recovery. That makes them a little better choice on some sited. For me I would rate the CZ about 2 to 1 over the 12 series, oh that's what I've got 2 CZ's and one 12 series.

well like i said not knowing to much about the cz i know i have read arguements on tesoro tejon and the 1270 and some claim the 1270 will take it on raw depth not by much though and the 1270 will pick up a dime at 6" on its edge easily but without the experience i can't say either or?

Hey there amcjavelin,
I usually see you over on the Tesoro forum. I'm at the beach for a few days and packed the CZ6a with the big sunray coil, Sandshark with the 10.5 inch, and Tejon with the clean sweep coil. I don't think I'll use the Tejon here unless we go several miles up the beach and find a big swath of dry sand. Almost no dry sand where we are at, but there is a lot of wet sand and shallow surf area to cover!

So my two cents on CZ's ... you can pick up good used CZ's (although the 3D tends to run a bit higher) for less than a new 1236X2 or a clean used Tejon. A CZ is worth having and hanging on to. I'd maybe shy away from a CZ6 since it had a different coil connector (unless you change the connector). Some of the CZ6's have been updated to the connector used on the others. The CZ6a has the connector used on the others.
