it is one thing to be interested in another hobby or activity but one has to stop and ask himself "Am I getting the most from the hobby or activity I've chosen or because of it am I giving the least attention to God?"

I had joined a bunch of Yahoo groups (shortwave listening, scanner radio, freecycle chat and many more). Was geting so many emails that I wasn't even taking time to read them - there was just way too many of them.

It all was taking up my time messing with that. Gave me a desire for radios I wanted to have. Antenna systems I wanted to set up. So many other thoughts that it finally dawned on me I was spending less and less time with our Father God and with Jesus. I was grieveing the Holy Spirit.

I've decided it was time to 'get my head on straight'.

No I'm not giving up on detecting but everything else is taking a hike. Even with detecting, I am putting God first and taking Him with me when I go.

I might give up on all the other forums - including detecting ones but this one stays because it serves God and His people for His glory.

Just thought I would share that with you. If you think about it are you overburdened with too many things going on and less time for God, maybe it is time to re-evaluate things.

Matthew 6:24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

I can't let everything else become my master of my all - my time, my money, my spirit, etc. I have one Master and it is He that I want and will serve - so help me God is my prayer.

easy to get swamped by internet things. Some time back I stopped going to everything but a few forums. And that's it. Good thinking Pete, steve in so az

You can srver God through all the hobbies that you do. True you can get too many and put God in the back seat, but I believe that you can have a few, as long as you take God along and spread his good word! :)

can understand the 'doing a job to completion'. Hey did your son get that book you wanted? Hope so. If not let me know I'll keep watching for another one.

Even though my "visits" here have been fewer than I'd planned, this forum is the only one I have posted to in quite a long time.
