real gold?

can real gold be found outdoors stuck to a rock? i'm new to detecting and the goldrush and have no idea if what i found is the real deal or not.

just loaded the pics and they are fuzzy....gonna post the fuzzies now but will take more pics with my other camera when i get home...

the glittery side of the fuzzy photo's is covered with this alleged gold...if it's not gold "growing" on this rock, then any idea what it is?

ok, scratch that. i got the pics but they are too big to upload onto here and i have no idea how to make them smaller....the pics are 160kb and the max on here is 120kb....anyone tell me how to shrink them or can i email them to one of you and you post it for me?

Download Image Resizer. After you install it, just right click on a photo and pick Resize Pictures. In the box that opens you can pick your size or make your own size. KB's will be reduced alot.

I'm no geologist, but it looks like Iron Pyrite (Fool's Gold)to me.

Thats what everyone at home has been saying, but I want to find out for sure. Who around town can check it to see if it's the real deal or not?

Real gold will spread or smear when mashed, pyrite is harder and will just crush into a powder.
