[attachment 30627 100_2257.JPG] Here is whatI call a real nuggett....my wife is holding it in her hand. It was found by Matt about 100 miles north of the Artic Circle in Alaska....just enjoy...it weighed over 9.5 ounces

No actually the picture was taken at the Colorado Prospectors Outing in Fairplay, Co...where we got a generous bit of gold...

Great stuff and I love the color! After you found this one, bet ya didn't even notice the skeeters. ; )

Rockey: It weighed 9.5 ounces according to the owner...it is probably worth around $5000 in gold value but as a nugget it is worth probably in the area of $10K to $13K. He found it around 100 miles north of the artic circle in a stream. He had pictures of him and a couple of others sitting on the edge around 8" of ice in wet suits in the spring of the year...it was amazing. I never imagined a piece of gold that large. They had a pan with the bottom FILLED with nuggets around 1/3 that size...they were using an 8" dredge. Its still out there. He said, anywhere near a road or easy access usually has no gold to speak of in Alaska or the Youkon. Where he got it was an area where you could prospect but not file a claim.

Allan... I was guessing the same as you. There are not many
areas this far north of the Arctic circle. And over the years
large nuggets have been found in Paradise Valley. Also, the
nugget looks like it could have been found there.
