Ready to hunt....

Hello all, I'll make this my introduction to the board. I've been lurking on these boards and try'n to learn what I need to get back into this hobby. I had a whites detector in the late 70's that i used. I have been out of the hobby for the last 3 decades so I have alot of catching up to do. Here's what i have aquired after reading alot of articles and posts on these boards for the coming season, whites MXT with 4 by 6 shooter, 9 \2 stock coil, 10dd ecelerator all mounted on their own down rods. Also a sunray dx-1 probe, grey ghost headphones and a lesch digger. I had everything together and decided today would be my first hunt of the year. I live in Michigan but the snow was mostly melted and the sun was out, the temp got to the upper 30's and I was ready to go. I went over to my son's house to try it out because he has an older place built in the 20's. I found targets all over the yard so I decided to dig a large vdi number for my first dig hoping for a silver quarter. dug about a half an inch and realized the ground was frozen solid. It was hard digging to get about 4 inches down only to find a beer cap. I'm gonna wait till the ground thaws to go back out but I'm ready to go. I hope you guy's have left a few good treasures for to find. Greg \ canonman

Welcome back to the hobby and the forum.
Good luck with your hunts and post pic when you can.

It would appear you have all the right gear. It will be nice to see photos of your first finds. Good luck and welcome to the forum. HH Dennis in Idaho

Just keep at it you will dig allot of.....:pulltab:....before you learn what your MXT is telling you, and you will find that it does talk. Rule of thumb when you first start is dig- dig -dig that's the only way you can figure it out. You will be speaking MXT in no time, good luck and welcome to the best forum on the net,

Welcome to the forum Greg and glad you're continuing your ventures with metal detecting. You've chosen an very nice detector. The more you use it, the more you'll love it. Sorry the ground is still froze up your way. Ours is just now starting to thaw here in Central Illinois. It's still frozen in the shady spots. We're to get in the 60's tomorrow and the weekend. :hot: I'm sure there's plenty of coins and relics that we've left behind for you to find. I wish you luck and keep us posted. HH to all, Nancy

I managed to get a couple hours in putting the coil to the soil today. I dug some iffy signals as well as good coin signals. All the ring range VDIs turned out to be can slaw or small pieces of aluminum. Did not find any silver but dug,
2 Clad Quarters
6 Memorial Penny's
2 clad dimes
Not much to talk about but the MXT worked great. I just did not swing over some good stuff. Had fun though. The way I look at it is this detecting day puts me one more day closer to a great day.

That's what it's all about......having fun! HH to all, Nancy
