Readings "50 ctnts", "1 $" - ??

Mirco

New member
With reading "25 cents" it is clear - I will dig up a quarter ( if value is 82-86)

But what about "50 cents" and "1$" ? What should I expect to dig out with these readings? I get them often on the screen but never dag up a half dollar and only once - a dollar (with reading "25 cents" BTW!!).

Please say, it is very important!!

Thank you!

Clad or silver quarters, Sacajewea "golden" dollars, SB Anthony dollars, will read 82 to 88

Clad or silver halves, large cents will read 89 to 92

Clad Eisenhower or silver dollars will read 93 to 94

I am sorry! Nothing of these when I dig on "50 cents" and "1$" !!! Maybe my machine is deffective? :sadwalk:

I don't think your detector is defective, you have to remember that allot of other things show up as 50 cents and 1 dollar such as aluminum screw caps, brass items, pieces of copper, there is allot of junk out there that will give false readings. I have found that looking at the VDI readings don't let you find the best items, you need to get used to what your detector is telling you. And I hate to say this but the only way you can do that is dig every thing when your just starting out. I still dig every thing because I'm afraid I will miss something.

Like I do too when I go out with Wader during rain. Wader has no display. I dig everything like rabbit.

But with Wader I do not find quarters. Many dimes.

With MXT - no dimes, but plenty of quarters. I do not know now where to put them. People in supermarket and cashiers look at me very strangely when they see these many dirty coins when I try to pay with them for food.

Mirco where are you located?

For the most part I agree with what Bob has said, but I do very well using the VDI numbers. Like he said you do have to learn your machine. I wish Whites had never put the icons on the screen, then newer guys wouldn't be disappointed when they didn't get a half dollar when the screen read, 93 dollar. There are just to many junk targets that read as halves and dollars. By the way, when was the last time you had a half or full sized dollar in you pocket? I've had my MXT for 3 years use it 5-6 days a week 12 months a year. I never look at the icons forget them. Many bottle caps read as quarters but you can learn to tell the difference. Many targets VDI as quarters, halves and dollars but again you can learn to make educated guesses. Learn your machine, I'm still getting better.

Detectors see new dollars as 25 cents because of there size and conductivity. Hell, you have enough trouble telling them from quarters when they are in your own hand. Rob

Often will get these readings with large aluminum - crushed cans etc. Also with most silver rings or at least the ones I've tested so even though you may dig a lot of trash, you never know when the next retrieval will be a good one.

Gentlemen!
You are so fricking smart! Unbelievable!
I learn from you likecrazy.

BTW, my machine destinguishs quarters unmiastakengly.

"+82 25 cent" - 100% guarantee a quarter. Beer caps - "iron"

Much more problems with "5 cent", "sink", "1 cent", "10 cent" "50 cent", "1$". You cannot imagine WHAT I dig out under these promises!!! You won`t believe your eyes! :goodnight:

I had a reading of 50 cents and guess what it was two quarters on top of each other. That will probably never happen again.

It always amazes me when the MXT knows how to count. When we go cladding, it's happened and with 4 quarters in one hole, it will read $1. I get a kick out of it every time! HH to all, Nancy

5 cents will id more accurately at under 20 on my machine. Older copper pennies and dimes come in on the same id so sometimes when digging a penny you get a pleasant surprise. In my experience, you will find that every time the target is a quarter etc. it will id correctly 99% of the time. The problem comes on the items that the machine thinks are close and tries to id them as coins. So - very accurate on the real thing, but not so good on the close, but no cigar.

Send them to me and let me worry about that!

I have only found 1 50 cent piece it bounced between 25 cent and 50 cent but found coin on edge. Lately I have been finding pennies that ring up as screwcap on my M6

I have noticed that at the beach (in oregon) when i dug up several old copper coins, i had several readings in the $1 range .
