Reading this article could save your life in the desert..

And now they even have companies that manufacture solar cones (shaped like actual cones and turned upside down with a rim as a water shelf to catch the water). After the condensation has taken place, the other end of the cone has a plug in it and you merely turn the cone upside down and drink the condensated water. So it's a solar still and a drinking vessel in one!;)
 
Neato. People would be more than surprised at how much water lays beneath our arid deserts. The water in barrel cactus will keep you alive in the desert.
