Reading The MxT Edge and

the answer is yes, read the manual first and take one step at a time

Yes it will.
I have the mxt edge and you have to read it several times while practicing with the mxt for it to make any sense, first time I read it I thought what a waste of money but it did start to click and I'm glad I bought it now.

Agreed. I read it once all the way thru and it didn't make perfect sense but I picked up a few things. Then I went out detecting and got some real experience. Then I went back and read it again and learned a little more. Then I went out again detecting. After about 5 of these repetitions over about a year I finally got it. Awesome machine and awesome book.

Yes, it will all make sense after you get to know your machine little by little. Practice, practice practice is the way to go. I know my MXT like the back of my hand and every time I use it, I couldn't ask for a better machine. I've had my MXT a mighty LONG time! Stick with it and you will learn it and love it. HH, Nancy

[/center]Hi jlw

Build your self a test garden, using nickle, dimes quarters, pull tabs bottle caps, nails, other things that you want to put in it
several of them at different levels, make a map of the garden and how deep they are, the garden wont be quite the same
as something buried in the field for a long time, but will help a lot especially with Jeff Fosters book, You can practice on
one Item at a time with out digging it. you will learn about the sounds and will learn more about the read outs, It may sound,
like a lot of work but in the long run it will help you out, and you will be able to enjoy your machine more, also take inconsideration
what kind of ground your detecting in if it is high in mineralization, you may need to get a dd type of coil, if not your OK with
the stock coil, I hope I was some help, you bought a great detector, you will have a lot of fun with it. 1230@$tree

Hey JLW,
Good to see you got the book.
I too read it through once. But kind of stayed away from Prospect mode related info.
Then I focused on Relic Mode reading.
at this time, I am focusing on Threshold, and Gain Stability.
Then next time I'm out, i will try to practice what I last read,
but I will probably ?? quit concentrating on the procedures, and just go to detecting with what I have down in my head.
Sort of ,,Hmmm?? Like starting off in class,, but finishing off by just having fun.
Then that night ,I'll reread the topic, and BAM ! I get it.
I also highlight the topics that I have practiced hands on, so I can tell at a glance wether I should know that topic.
Baby steps for me, lol
I just need more TIME TO PLAY , Dangit
hang in there,, your not alone,
Dusty
