Reading about the Q2 and thought of something.... Is autotrac a good idea??

in reguard to the XLT - why is the preset +1 on the GB/autotrac. Wouldn't you want it to be even - 0 - or maybe least -1 for better depth? I'll have to try manual GB sometime for kicks.

I mean could the unit Auto GB out good targets?
 
Generally, autotrac is good from what I've read. However, I've also read opinions that manual is better as you can tweak it as conditions warrant. Also, how does one know that the auto trac setting is accurate? Hopefully someone with good technical knowledge will jump in on this.
