I have been a Garrett dealer since 2000, I sent my 10 year old personal GTI 2500 in last summer for some minor repairs and a check up. Talked with the service/repair techs while my machine was there, these guys are AAA +. They returned my 2500 and it was a brand new 10 year old machine, updated from the coil to the electronics.

I asked while on the phone with a tech if there were any new machines coming out. The answer I got was with hesitation and vague. I explained I understood if he could not disclose any information. I then explained we were ready for a machine that would compete with the E-Trac and The V3i.

Now that we have seen the ACE 350 and the AT PRO, my thoughts are What's next?

The AT Pro was a big step forward and instead of costing more ... it was priced less! (than top line detectors)
But the performance is certainly not middle class.

I can only wonder at what Garrett R&D engineers are working on right now.
If it is something on there top line GTI series and it is better than the AT Pro ... then I want one right now!

A waterproof GTI-2500 ?
A discriminating PI that really does discriminate ?
Something with GPS tracking so you can download to your computer mapping out an area as to where you hunted and where you found targets ?
My mind is boggling right now so I better stop.

I can relate to most of Willee's findings. I've tried a heck of a lot of detector over the last few years looking for what I'd call my tot lot choice. So far the AT Pro is far above any other I have tested. I have spent a lot of time locating targets that sounded really only to find them one of those really small sequins or tiny foil. Now for some they may consider this a waste, but not me. I know how important it is to have the ability for a detector to see those if you ever hope to hit those gold chains.

Can't wait until the 4.5 sniper coils comes out. I am really impressed that a coil as big as the stock AT Pro can still hit so hard on such tiny targets.
