this is just a classic example of why we should all wear a side arm. If not then at least support the CCW law. Even the odds.
More then that though, in the book (and as it really happened) my neighbor was the state Trooper (boyer) that showed up on scene after Ken got shot. I was 5 when it happened, his son and I were great friends when we were growing up.
