I have used my Tiger Shark in wet salt sand, it runs stable in white sand beaches in the Caribbean, and struggles in black sand streaks of America's gulf coast. It's still very useable on the gulf coast, no single frequency VLF machine made is going to ground balance in black streaks as the mineralization changes significantly in very short distances, less than one coil sweep. Depth for coin size objects is 5 or 6 inches in salt mode. If you use it often in salt water, you may want to consider a multi frequency machine like a Minelab Excalibur. Avoid the temptation to get a PI machine, they ignore the mineralization and go deep, but without discrimination you will spend your day digging every bit of iron at crazy deep depths while the rest of us are finding the good targets.
