Hi Bill, With my 1266x i set it up with a nickel and go for it, Do a lot digging but have found some great finds over the years. My cz3d Iam doing ok just digging coins high tone, and foil for the small gold rings.I am new to the cz3d and it will take time to learn it.I was thinking about a fisher with the notching.

Digital CZ with the superior notching definetly has its place..I always notch out zinc as zinc pennies and indian heads do nothing for me..With the digital you can mix or match relative notching while the analog CZ is linear and notch up to Zinc and you lose all except coins all...Indeed foil is the hotspot for thinner womans rings with nice stones but on a athletic field sure will miss that large mans ring...In addendum your call for the area your hunting with a digital CZ...but is an advantage....

Unfortunately gold can come in between anywhere between foil and above tabs as in the thick 14K ring, as you can see in this table.

So ideally a digital would be able to create that custom acceptance window. Currently something along the Minelab X-terra line allows you to do that with greater resolution as the you go up the model line.

With the pre-set notches of the CZ you live with what the factory has decided. If you have a collection of gold rings, you can test against the factory notch settings should you have access to a machine before you buy.

.. that if the ground has significant amounts of iron mineralisation or salts (agricultural runoff) the 'notch' that is just right on the surface can shift radically at even shallow depths. That's why I've basically given up on notch disc. ..Willy.

Playing the odds. Which target range has the greater amount of rings in it? From all I've seen I'd have to agree to the Foil range as better odds of finding gold.
