Hey guys,
I just wanted to say,"Thanks", for jumping in there the other day with your much appreciated comments on the 4x6 when I was asking Monte about some coil comparisons. Sorry it took so long, but work has been keeping me very busy, so I was unable to jump back in sooner.
You guys have convienced me to hold on to it. I figure, since I already have and all, might as well keep it and give it a try. And hearing your experiences with it, it sounds like it could come in handy.
The other day, a friend and I went to an old home site and I forgot how bad and tough it is to work those sites (it has been awhile for me). I took the 5.3 but it was still tough. I bet the 4x6 would have been the ticket out there. I will try it next time.
Hey Rick, I have a question for you. Did I read correctly that you sold your GT? Believe it or not, you are one of the main reasons why I finally decided to take a big leap and buy one (my first minelab), and then I read a few weeks later that you sold it. Boy, that had me worried (and still does, actually). Why did you sell it? Was one of your other, older-model, Sovereign's better?
I remember reading something you posted stating that when you first got your sovereign, you were thinking, "What did I get myself into"? All I can say is, I'm thinking the same thing right now. But I'm patient and will continue to practice with it to get to understand what she is telling with the things I dig up. Hopefully, my heart will change on how I feel about her currently. One thing for sure, playing with other detectors make me really appreciate the MXT even more.
Any ways, thanks again you guys and I'll catch up with you later.
Take care.
Sincerely,
Rick

Rick,
I think you will like the 4X6 as it has done well for my wife and me for what we have used it. I have picked out some nice coins in with trash other have missed and surprised a few i detect with.
On the GT I did sell it, but will be getting another one back in to replace it. I have used all of the Sovereigns models made and also have a Elite I had just put on a straight shaft like the GT is and also have a remote pinpoint switch and a lighted meter plus the S1 probe. Being I just got this one set up and doing air test i didnt see any advantage of the GT for my hunting over the Elite on the air test i did. I did see the tones were better on the GT plus they put the controls back where they were on the earlier Sovereigns and now what i am reading on how sensitive it is I may just have to sell the Elite and try me a GT.
To me there is no detector that is like the Sovereigns as far as ID and picking coins out with trash, but the MXT is close for me and find the MXT is easier to use and can cover an area a lot faster than my Sovereigns, but the Sovereigns will see more the MXT will average out.
Rick

Hello Rick,
Thanks for the speedy reply. I appreciate your input and expertise with the Sovereigns. I will keep crackin at it to see if I get better and more comfortable with it. I did buy the 8-inch sunray like you suggested for me two months ago and I'm glad I bought it (great suggestion).
I'll probably be bugging you here or there as I go along, but will bring the questions back to where they belong (the Sovereign forum).
Thanks again Rick.
I think I'll go play with the GT today somewhere, since headache-taxes are finally done and see how she does.
Sincerely,
Rick
