RE: My New Surf Pro PI

Well I didn't do very good. I was however impressed with the machine. I tried the wet sand and walked for a ways and only got one hit and it was an old rusted fishing lure. I then decided to try the dry sand which I was warned about. I found more bottle caps and hair pins then ever. I was surprised to find the smallest old rusted little piece of a fishing hook 12" deep that impressed me. I also figured out that I need a better scoop. I had a good hit in 3 feet of water but the waves would fill in the hole as fast as I tried to dig. If anyone has a favorite scoop or a different technique please let me know. Anyway I finished with 3 quarters, 1 nickel, 1 dime and 3 pennies. I am not giving up I only live an hour from the beach I will be returning very soon........

Happy Hunting

Fred,

I'm curious to know if you hunted any beaches with high iron content in the sand and what your experience was. What part of the country are you hunting? - Jim

I use the same detector you bought...

I use the Babbs scoop with the stainless lip... I've had it almost 2 years now and I dig in rocky bottoms and its holding up great..
