Re: Just When You Think You Got Them All... Out Pops One Of These, It's The Third One From This Area

Here's one one of the two pictures of today's finds. It's great to find the big silver and not a can....LOL.

[attachment 43237 Franklin2.jpg]I was by an area that I was hunting because it was the least productive area because of Torn Bushes :stars: and those wrap around vines that grow around small bushes. I was working the inner outer parts and I got that nice high pitch I was looking for. The cross hairs were in the extreme upper right on my Explorer, which means Large Cent, Morgan, or Half... This is the third half dollar to come out of Silverado. I am nearing the 200 silver coin mark and soon I'll be working the area for gold jewlery with my gold program... Enjoy and God Bless...

I've yet to find a Franklin half. If memory serves I did find a Kennedy half one time (kids sandy lot playground). Hmmm think that was the same day I found an Ike dollar lying on top of the ground. (Was at an outside dog show demonstration and a sudden downpour had everyone scattering. On the ground next to me was the Ike. So I picked it up and headed for shelter.

Good thing it was an eyeball find or my detector would have been swimming in the down pour.

Sounds like ya got 3 things going for ya (1) good hunting area, (2) great detector and (3) skill in working both = the area and the detector. (I'm still dreaming of a Minelab - which one do you have?)

Nice finds! I got my first half not too long ago and almost left it there. It was pretty deep and I thought for sure it was a can (cause it was so big :) )

Are you using the coin pattern or IM? Stock coil?

I've tried the coin pattern but prefer IM -10 to -14 depending on where I am...

I'm using Stock Coil... and Coin Silver pattern, but I do switch back and forth from silver program to IM, and when using the digital, did you know that if your using the silver program that the discrimination stay active and you can get those silver read outs... Try it. I've beentrying different set ups and I'll tell when I get another good one... God bless.

but that could be some time and if there is anything left from the life insurance he left.
I was wondering which Minelab to get if I had say $2000 or less to work with. Any suggestions Phil?

I do have a coin program set up... I've been hitting that area where I got the seated and trying differnent things; sensitivity, IM, coil sizes (going over the same area). I think I just have to go real slow. If there's anything there, I have to pick it out from between the trash. I've been concentrating on deep hits 8" or more; digging anything that sounds "good" even if it's pulled to the ferrous (low tone). Pretty interesting.

Went back to another park Saturday morning (that I've hit numerous times) and picked up some deep wheaties but had to leave when they started flying the remote control planes... I was using the stock coil at the time.

Tried a county park after that (pretty trashy) and found a Rosie and quite a bit of clad. By the amount of quarters I found, it doesn't seem like anyone has hit this particular area... hard to believe.

I sure wished I could have hunted that site with ya! :) Congrats!
