These guys just keep showing up in areas that I have already hunted. I remember an old friend with whom I used to talk with, a very smart man. We affectionately called him RICO because, well, he was sort of well off financially. Anyway, RICO... always use to say that you have to have an angle in life if you want to make money. Now... I am convinced that when we are hunting with an Explorer... it's all about how you are going hit a target, it's the angle that can make a difference on how a target sounds.

Example: When I was going home from this site, I hit a little mound that both myself and another hunter had scanned. I got a Merc, he got nothing. The next hunt, I scanned that same mound but from a slightly different angle, and pow, a Washington quarter came up... Now, a few days later I ran into the same mound and had approached it from yet another angle and pow, low and behold, a barber quarter came to light at, at least 14"... oh but you may be asking, did I change the settings... answer is no, same setting. So, today, working on this principle, guess what, as you can see, here are the spoils.

Now... listen up, some of you already do what I'm about to reveal, some of you have done it and have changed your approach to coin shooting, and again some of you have never tried this approach. I'm in a habit of holding the line... just like a line in a Civil War Battle...LOL. What I mean by that is that no matter how many coins I dig, I hunt in a straight line that I walk while in the wooded area of a park. In a very rare occasion do I stay in an area and just work it. I like to keep moving, but believe me, if I am walking my line, and hit more than 4 or 5 coins in my line, I will stop, grid out a 25 to 35 square area and work it. This is what I am doing now... Today I hit an area I had already hunted... did my line, and the moment I hit a silver coin, I worked the area slow in about a 50X50 area, and it was an eye opening experience to see more silver, not only that they were deep silver in the grid area. I was scanning from different angles... simply amazing folks.

Here's another pic... In this batch is a 1917 S Merc who came in at 16" That very dark quarter came in at 18" or more. I notice that when I receive signals from the black soil, the targets may sound very iffy, especially if iron is present...except the wheaties, they sound almost like a dime sometimes. I'm finding that hunting in Ferrous, pennies come in with three tones. The memorials pennies come in with the highest tone of the pennies, almost silver and flutty sometimes. The Wheaties a bit lower and may have the flutty sound to them, and of course, the Indian which may come in like a Wheaties, but a tiny bit lower, and those Indians from the 1800's come in almost towards the gold and bronze range, very sweet sound, I dig them every time.

The Dimes are the same, coming in with three different tones. The Rosie comes in with a high silver tone, close to a quarter sometimes, I mean it screams at you. (Note) If you discriminate memorials from your Explorer, you are not going to dig Rosies, I mean they come in, but very iffy and broken signal after multiple scanning of the soil.

The Merc comes in a tiny bit lower than the Rosie with the cross hairs hanging in the upper half of the screen. If you discrim. the Rosie's, you'll still dig Mercs, unless you discrim. the Wheaties and then it's like the Rosie's above.

The Barber dime has the lowest tone of the three, and if you ever wonder why you are not finding half dimes, and seated dimes, is because they come in as 6-28 and a worn one will come in as 6 or 8-26. Check them out. Another hunter either posted a seated dime or half dime and also posted the digital reading on the coin. I know that half dimes and most seated dimes don't come like Mercs or Rosies. They are more closer to barber dimes, coming inbetween barbers and mers. It's just that the tone is a tiny bit lower and they may show up with the cross hairs at the extreme right, with the cross hairs half way out of the screen.

Well, I hope you brothers and sisters can use this information to find more silver when you hit a silverado one day with an Explorer or whatever detector you are using. Each machine is different and I'm only speaking concerning the Explorer I and II. The new SE I have yet to field test as I am not going for another 1,100.00 dollars on a SE, I'll wait till it comes down in price or I'm given one as a promo....LOL, yeah right... HH.

On another note, Please pray for the hundreds of people that will disappear today, who will be used in, well you know, or at least I hope you know...
