I need the address and Phone number for the metal detecting permit for Long Island, and sadly enough I can't see the video you for some reason... any idea's why...????

Here's the address:

NYS Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation
Long Island Region Permits Office
Belmont Avenue, PO box 247
Babylon, NY 11702-0247

Just sent a letter saying, I ________________ request a permit for metal detecting. Include your address. I guess you could send a copy of your driver's license too (don't think they require it..) and, of course, $20. I went there on Monday and I just got my permit in the mail today! Otherwise, I think it'll take about 2 weeks. You can hunt the beaches all year round but you can't dig dirt from Memorial day to Labor day. There's one particular park out east that I'd like to hit. Lots of history to it and someone told me they pulled some oldies out of there. We'll see.

As far as the video is concerned, maybe you don't have the right plugin? Do you have dialup or cable? If it's dial up, it'll take forever to watch it (just ask Mike :) )

If I don't have to work Saturday (and it doesn't rain) I'm going to try to hunt the perimeter of an 1850's cemetery. I'm sure it's been pounded but, heck, I thought the same thing about the place I found 13 silvers :) Those people didn't have an Exp

Thanks for the info... just posted some pictures of silverado today, and you can see the patterns of how the silver was dropping. I hunted an even older cemetery in Nyack NY, and got my first seated liberty dime, 1891. This grave yard had tombstones from people born 1759-1798 1781-1818, and I also did the perimeter and got some interesting relics, no coins as I also know this place was pounded.

Will get on the permit as I would like to hunt Jones and the other beaches this year with my CZ-20. Do you know Mark Salamack, he's always out there, he lives near the beaches... chat soon...HH.
