Re. detecting in Massachusetts on State Park land...

I found a link on another TH'ing site that I thought I should share here.

http://www.mass.gov/dcr/legal/regulations.htm

I was surprised to read section 304 CMR 12:11

"(3) No person shall use or offer for use metal detectors on Department property except at the discretion of the Area Supervisor on designated swimming beaches and designated campsites"

I know there has been a little discussion here in the past regarding detecting on Mass. State Park beaches. It seems as though the park rangers have the rules on their side here and if they want to be a-holes about it, I guess they can.

You may want to remind the Mass. State Park Supervisor if they do give you a tough time that you are a taxpayer. In most Michigan State Parks there are designated metal detecting area's.Some parks remain closed to hunters. It may be worth pursuing to find out what area's are open the park officials may cooperate.
