Rare Coin?

Hey everyone, Made it back from Iraq a few days ago. I hope to be able to get out a swing a little before everything freezes. I am in GA till the holidays so maybe the weather will hold out. My mother-in-law gave me this coin. It is an 1863 2 cent piece. I looked it up and they were only minted from 64-73. Best I can tell this is some kind of proof. The link below has them selling for 2500-5000 dollars. What do you guys think?

John

I'm no coin shark , but , I don't know of any 63's being struck...other than a few proofs.
Welcome home & thank you.

John,
Looking in Walter Breen's Encyclopedia of US & Colonial Coins, Chapter 20, pg 238,239. It states that some Protptypes coins were struck in copper, bronze & aluminum Proofs; these are extremely rare. If you want a copy of the page let me know.

GREAT FIND!!!
