Ran into a Legend this Morning at Surf Church:cool:

I ran into a surfhunting legend this a.m. while searching for a platinum band that was lost on Monday. I showed up a little after 6 a.m. to beat the crowds at Horseshoe Bay. Low tide was already past and the surf was up but I'd promised this young husband I'd attempt to find his platinum ring and get him out of the doghouse.

Imagine my surprise when I found a surf pirate already out in the mine swinging a Seahunter PI unit, it was Mark.

Mark has been hunting the surf around Bermuda for the past 12 years and has a small mountain of loot to his credit, apparently I missed the glory days.:sadwalk: I'd heard from a few drysanders that there was a crazy guy who hunted out in the surf like me and I finally met up with him, Great Guy! I told him about the platinum band and the doghoused husband and added that there was a reward but just like any true surf pirate would he said that he didn't accept rewards. He does ask for a letter though as there is a move afoot by government to ban metal detecting on the island of Bermuda. I hadn't met him until now because he usually hunts at night, the land sharks are much worse than the ones in the water and he has had a few run ins with drunken punks on the beach. Bermuda beaches are isolated so a pirate has to watch out or he can be in trouble quick. Walk soft and carry a Big Scoop!

The surf pounded us pretty good this morning and I saw one wave go right over Mark, wish I'd had my camera at the ready but I was busy floating over the same rogue wave. Found some clad and a bunch of bullets but nothing good. I did manage a nice 'Canadians in Bermuda' frisbee from yesterdays big bash to honor 'Canada Day':canadaflag: - over 2,000 Canucks in attendance.

Happy Canada Day,:canadaflag:

It's hard to move platinum very far because of its' high density. The hot zone on this beach is well defined and he lost it there, so it should be possible to retrieve this ring.

Good Hunting to You,
