Ran batteries out on Tejon, last hunt of the year

Got back to the high school for 2.5 hours before it freezes. The high school has always provided coins and sometimes more. Supposed to freeze hard tonight and the 10 day forecast looks like it won't thaw.

Tejon was at 2 beeps on start up. Hunted the area that has been almost all deeper nickles and pennies. Still is. Wind picked up so I moved to a little corner by the cafeteria emergency exit that was somewhat sheltered and it appears that little corner has not been hunted much. Pulled quarters and dimes there as well as nickles and pennies. Usual foil, a battery, a radio knob and a wheel weight.

About the time my fingers couldn't feel anything (should have put another layer under the jacket), the Tejon started acting a little squirrely. Did the battery check and no beeps. Had the Cibola with a fresh battery along for the ride, but quit to go warm up.

Based on the weather, I think it is time to take the Cibola apart to add the ground balance and get it ready for spring.

Today turned up 4 quarters, 8 dimes, 14 nickles, 21 pennies and 27 tabs.

Happy new year to all!
