... another article to add to my "Tips from Cody" word document.

Always enjoy reading your stuff! Of course being kind of a "techie" I also enjoy the technical approach you take. What people may not realize is that it takes a lot of discipline and knowledge to follow this approach ... getting to know something in-depth is hard work!

Also ... as you have alluded to in the past ... even with all this theory it still wise to take things with a grain of salt and always check things out. Metal detector discriminator circuits are far from perfect and changing detecting environments will often result in unusual or unexpected outcomes. It's just the nature of the beast. The factors you can come across while in the field can vary considerably with the test conditions which are often controlled without one realizing it (ie coin flat to surface, no trash, etc). In the "real" detecting world an infinite number of variations can be found.

Anyways ... just thought I'd tell you how much I appreciate your efforts ... always look forward to reading your posts!

We just returned from church and a great 4th of July service. I kept thinking how "involved" all this can sound but all we need to do when we power up is hold the button down and we default the factory setting. I af often torn between a desire to post good information that is helpful and information that will confuse or is of interest only to a few.

I have also found that if I accept with the medium cursor and reject with the small cursor then I can do a lot of control as to how the detector responds to rings and pulltabs. I feel like all I need is a slight indication that is different between the two that I can count on to get the rings and reject the tabs. I think we can do that using all the "tricks" and learning about the settings.

HH, Cody
