rainy weather question

new202user

New member
its been raining off and on today. because of the weather no one is at the local parks, would my BH202 still work even after the ground it wet. i know i have to keep the control box dry. i just dont know if the wet ground at the park will throw off my detector like the wet sand at the beach did. i was think of getting in a mid-day hunt since no one is around. any info would be great. thanks for reading.

hey new 202 user, youll be ok as long as you dont get the coil or box too wet. a wet coil will sound like a cd played in reverse [lots of falsies] a lot of detectors behave the same way. good luck, and hh

I keep a constant coil height 2" from left to right, and slow down your swing speed, this will help with the falsing, and as Gray Ghost said keep wiping the coil. I do a lot of detecting in the rain with the tracker IV and as long as you keep a plastic bag over the housing there should'nt be a problem. Live your dreams! HH Nugget.:detecting:

I hunt after rains all the time...The wet ground is more conductive, and I find deeper targets. Have gotten the face plate on the control housing pretty muddy before I learned to dig with my left hand, and keep my right hand that I swing with as clean as possible...it never hurt the detector none, I just clean it off with a damp (not wet) sponge when I get home...I soak the coil in lukewarm water for about 15min, then clean it off with an old toothbrush when I get home, and carry an old towel to wipe everything down in the field...my LESCHE sees more mud than anything else...I need to coat it with something slick so the mud don't stick...lol
