After my wife and I did our early morning "social hour" thing at the gym it had just started raining again as we were leaving. Had a good round of storms come through last night and more is in the forecast for today through tomorrow. After we got home I grabbed the tumbler and containers of clad and got started cleaning it. Checked the weather about 8:45 and dang nab if the radar didn't show a possible window of a few hours free of rain. I promptly threw my gear in the car and headed out to one of our older parks. As I had cleaned my gear and ditty bag up over the weekend, I found that I had forgot my camera and small water bottle that I put silver finds in when I got to the park.
My 2nd keeper target turned out to be the 1901 Barber quarter. It was a bit jumpy in the quarter range, but wouldn't quite hit a 90 reading. As it turned out it was on edge at about 5." Dug the small silver looking blob about midway through the hunt at about 4" it and read 81-82 and passes the polish test, but has no markings so will give it a silver testing. Towards the end of the hunt got a faint mixed tone with readings in the low 70's. Dug it and it was about 6" deep, but couldn't tell what kind of cent it was until I got home and worked on it a little. It is an I H cent with what I believe to be a 1908 date, but to be sure it will need some more work. As I was working my way back to my SUV I got a classic silver dime reading of 83-84 and from 4" popped the 50d Rosie.
With the curios, clad, Memorial cents and silvers, it turned out to be a nice rainy day outing. HH jim tn
