Rainy Day Bags

What kind of bags did you guys take with you to cover your MXT when it rains?

For the meter, a sandwich bag fits perfectly. I saw a post recently though of someone that made a cover for the control unit but I don't remember where it was at. I guess in a pinch, a larger bag maybe?

Notch out a small rectangle about 3" long on the centerline of the bag-perpendicular to the bottom seam.
Unscrew the arm rest, remove it, and slide the open end of the bag over the case.
Replace the armrest. Works great- eveen for a week of rough use.
I like the ready-made meter covers.

A plastic grocery bag works great. The two handle holes in the bag go over the meter and lock the bag in place.

I just use a plastic bag on the box--None on the meter-it does not leak--DeathWind1

must be pretty darn water proof as I have never had a problem--until you brought it up I had Never even thought about it--I dont remember any one ever saying they had a problem--But dont do what I did 30 years ago and that was sitting it on roof of my Bronco and having it hit I-5 at 50 plus--It mite have leaked some after that---DeathWind1

I'll try to remember that. I once tied the front of my seaeagle whitewater canoe to the pickup bed behind the cab and not the back. Going down route 51 at 55 I heard the strangest sound. Looked in the side mirror to see it beig drug down the shoulder flopping like a fish outa water No sir inflateable
boats arn't made to shoot the interstate. Not only that but it happened on the way home from its maden voyage. My very own Titanic story. <img src="/metal/html/shocked.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":shock">

I was playing with mine the other day trying to figure how to plug the lower end of the upper shaft and also wondered if the indicator was waterproof.
I blew into the end of the lower shaft while holding my fingers over the adjustment holes and heard lots of air coming out of the indicator housing. Upon further examination I found that there is a flat bar going into the bottom of the housing that supports the housing on the handle. The wires go in there through the same hole. It is very open but it is on the bottom. As long as you do not invert the detector you should be OK.
The seam where the front and back attach is not a waterproof seal but appears to be tight enough to divert any water around and down to drain out the bottom hole.
I think that in any rain, in an upright position the indicator electronics should remain dry.
Even a little bit of water inside would drain out as long as it is right side up.
