Raining Lead at a Missouri Battlefield

My friend Matt and I had one of those hunts that the "old timers" talk about. We knew it would be a good day because we saw two bald eagles flying while on our way to the site. Being two bald guys, we took this as a good omen. We went to a known battle site, and he got a permission at a small area of private land directly between the Union and Confederate lines. Once we were on the lead, we were finding them by the fistfuls! We ended up with over 150 bullets, mostly shot but some dropped. We also each found one percussion cap, which is pretty good for the acidic Missouri soil.

You can see one point in the video where I unplug and swing in a 5' x 5' area, and you can hear a bullet every few inches. It was surely incredible. We each ended up giving the landowner and his kids 10 or so bullets. The kids enjoyed watching us dig. The picture is of my take-home finds. This day restored my belief that there are still honey holes out there that haven't been hit.
