Rainbow display on AT Pro

Hey folks, I took my 3 week old AT Pro for a short after work hunt today. This is the second time I've used the machine. First time was in the rain.
Well today, as soon as I took the detector out of the trunk I noticed a rainbow like pattern on the display. This was there whether the machine was turned off or on. I did some searching and saw this was discussed a while back, so I'm wondering if there's any new information on it. The detector had been in the trunk all day but the temp was only in the low 80s. The machine was covered up so there was no sun contact with the screen.

Thanks in advance.

That's what mine looks like when I where polarizing sunglasses. Something to do with the plastic. If it's a problem or becomes one call Garrett. Make sure you have registered the unit.

Completely normal. I have owned 6 AT-Pro's, have 3 at this time and they have all done that.

My AT Gold is the same way. I think they are putting a polarized coating on the plastic to help you see the display in sunlight. When I look at my display with polarized glasses it goes completely black, do to the coating on the display and the coating on my oakleys being combined.

That just means there is gold at the end of the rainbow:super:

I've the heard the "it's normal" before. "Houston, we have a problem" is better. Good call "it's normal", in my opinion, for one of the finest detectors on the market. "Quality is job one" isn't for cars only. If there is an issue, there is an issue. Would you purchase a detector with the problem yours have? I'm a proud AT Pro owner and care enough about my machine to take care of those issues. Why do you think the AT Pro has a current high resale value? Don't ruin it for the rest of us by ignoring this. Check with Garrett and see if what is going on with your machine is "normal". Re-read the Care and Maintenance section and review "the simple ways to care for the detector" on page 49 of Owner's Manual.
See Bullet 1 - Maybe "it is normal" would apply.

Well I have yet to see this on my AT Pro screen it is clear could it becaused from heat I notice one day I left my cell phone in the truck and when I went to use it there was rainbow haze in it after I turned the AC on and it cooled down it was gone Just a thought.

Called Garrett and they theorized that it could have been a little condesation behind the "screen". There's adhesive that holds this screen "cover" in place. They sent me a new one, no questions asked (AWESOME customer service btw). Since the problem has gone away on its own I now have a back up screen in case anything happens to the stock screen.

I bought my AT Pro last August and it did not have the rainbow effect. I sent it in for repair in March, and it came back with the rainbow effect. Go figure.

Old thread but I just got my AT PRO and this rainbow thing is pissing me off. Garrett does not have the most visual friendly screens to begin with! Now add a rainbow running through it.
