rain proofing the MXT

rm2ken

New member
Is there a way to put some type of covering on the electronics box of the MXT to keep the rain or mist out, especially on the beach, and if so, what material is best?

Hi rm2Ken, I always put a large freezer bag over it and a sandwich bag over the meter. This works OK if not in a down pour. Dean

White's makes a cover for it. However, I don't care much for it. I just carry me a plastic bag or two and use those if it starts to rain.

I've always used a baggie like the others. Larry and I haven't seen a cover for the MXT from Whites. They make a display/meter cover, but nothing for the box. We have seen them from England, but I honestly don't think they're worth the money they are asking for them. You could buy a lot of bags for that! HH, Nancy

Thank you! Sort of like the safety pin, baggies and plastic bags also have a thousand and one uses. Simpler the better! Thanks again!!!

Those are nice covers. I tried a search for them but did not find any thing. How do you get in contact with them? Do the covers cause the detector to run hot? I would like to try teem on my MXT and my TDI to keep them dry in one of the gully washers we get out here in the west duing summer monsoons.
