Rain jacket/cover for Cibola/Vaquero - opinions

New member
Hi,
I have question about stock accessories of Tesoro like rain jacket for Cibola/Vaquero (the brown one).
I bought one but i have problem with my headphones Calrad with angle plug.
When insert the plug of my headphones i can't put rain jacket on box with electronics - plug with cable do a conflict with rain jacket.

How i can solve that problem ?? :stretcher:

PS> How do you do control box dust or rain proof ?? Above S pipe front panel doesn't match well and there is some hole. Dust/mud/sand can go inside easily

I put a sandwich baggie over my U-max, fits like a glove, easy to turn the knobs. Cheap too.

This is what I use.

Very interesting use of sandwich bag and carry bag :clapping:

Anyone don't have original rain jacket ??

I never like to say anything negative about Tesoro as they make great detectors and are wonderful people at the factory but I have to be honest and tell ya that I have had a couple original Tesoro rain covers & I didn't care for them. I just didn't like the way they fit.

Hello:
I went ahead and cut a small slit in my rain cover to plug in my phones, seems to work ok.
I love Tesoro machines,,but they could have allowed for headphone use with their rain covers.

Hello,
Exactly
I have the same problem - i can't use my headphones (with 90 degree plug) when use rain jacket
I think that i do the same - cut circle hole for plug and cable or just sell my own to who don't use headphones :detecting:
:tesoro: must think about it because they doesn't place any volume control and headphones are necessary

Well I use a special rain coat for my Vaquero it's a modified poly electrical box vapor barrier for a square electrical box. Available at any building supply store for less than $2 and just a few mods with scissors a bit of elastic cord and you have a nice rain cover.

Can you upload photo or give link to this vapor barrier ??
I'm curious about that solution.

I use the cheap disposable bowl covers with the elastic rim available at most grocery stores. However, I don't often hunt in the rain, either.

Damiano these are a few pictures of 4x4x3 inches polyethylene electrical box vapor barrier on my Vaquero. I gather the three tabs and wrap that i have put holes in and fasten them around the back of the detector, use what ever you have elastic cord, zip ties, lace or Velcro for fastening. I have cut the front to give access to the controls. I believe it should fit all the newer style Tesoro's.

Thanks - i decide to have in my pocket carry bag and when rain falls i will put her on control box.

I am surprized no one uses those featherweight clear shower caps from Wally World. They have elastic in them and fit the umax just fine and if you want, you can put a rubber band over it to help hold it even better, They are plenty clear and flexible enough to be able to see and twist/.thumb the knobs. They are dirt cheap and several can be stuffed in your pocket if you are in the woods and happen to snag a hole in it, which really isn't likely unless you wind up in the middle of a briar patch. I been using them for years and they work just fine and won't wear the paint/finish off the corners of your machine like some of the covers do.
