Rain gear

Here in Washington State we have an annual Rain Festival (Jan1 through Dec 31) each year. During this time, I would still like to go detecting, however I don't want to put the brain and display portion of my Elite 2200 at risk from water damage.

Do any of you have suggestions for a condom, or rain bonnet or something of the like that will fit the top, electronics containing portion of my machine and still allow me to view the display and access the controls?

I was thinking of those shower curtain looking elasticized plastic bowl covers that are sold by Glad, I think it is.

Do any of you have a solution?

Thanks,

Mark

I thought that too a couple years ago, but I couldn't find them for sell anywhere. A pink one would be nice.

Some people use press n' seal wrap, but I'm not sure how see-thur it would be. On occasion I have used zip lock storage bags.

Be sure to cover the battery compartment and your cable connection as well. But on your machine wouldn't one bag (2 gallon?) do it all?

I agree with dave... get a 2 gallon zip-loc bag (or 1 gallon... that size fits snugly around the control housing of my lone star), cut a small hole on the side where the coil connection is, and fit it over the control box. The open end of the bag should be around the control panel of your detector, so you can still access the controls. I've used this setup at the beach (to avoid salt water spray or sand getting into the detector), as well as on days when the weather seems iffy. Hope this helps, abcoin.
