Rain/Dust cover for Goldbug SE

RRandy

New member
Hi all
I just got a rain/dust cover for my Goldbug SE off an Ebay site "Treasure place". Very well made, with easy access to the faceplate, with plenty of room to prevent any stress on the connector/coax. (My goldbug coax connector, and reinforced cable at the connector is almost twice as long as the F70's connector). Im like JimGilmore...we have had a TON of rain & wind this winter on the North Oregon coast, and I am tired of waiting for the weather, so I got this so I can at least go out in "marginal" weather (we typically get 70+ inches of rain here, with wind). I will use it also, regardless of the weather at the beach....because of that fine ocean mis. You might want to check it out.

Randy

can you get your fingers underneith the front of the cover to twiddle nobs? i have the bug pro would be handy if i could get in there without taking the cover off.

cheers for the help

Hi AJ
You can easily get to the knobs, with the cover on...I hunt almost exclusively in "all metal" so I mostly use the Ground Grab, which is the top button, and you can easily press that button, as well as the two knobs, and the +/- buttons (i have pretty fat fingers). You can also see the screen real good thru the clear plastic front. There is actually a strap that hugs the detector, and a space in between then the clear screen. Sure beats a plastic bag wrapped around the unit.

I've been looking at this one myself.

yes very good Randy thanks for the info and will be getting one like right now, sounds great :clapping: thanks for the pic BH, SOLD.

What is the velcro strap on the side used for, it does not appear to be a covering of something?

Thanks

I also have the cover from the treasure place on ebay. The Velcro strap is for the headphone jack. I bought the first one he made and he actually sent me a couple of prototypes till he came up with his final product. It is a perfect fit with easy access to all the controls. I leave mine on almost all the time I am hunting but I bought it for the beach to keep salt mist off the control housing. High quality and very well made. If you get one you will be satisfied.

Take care
Bob

Can anyone acknowledge this, or better post a photo of the improved version ?

This because the photo of the cover from BH_Landstar (above) looks more solid in my opinion.

Cool looking cover.I will have to see what shipping to canada is like.I use a plastic sandwich baggy-the zip-lock brand the best.I tape the bottom and for hte knobs I put tiny holes then pull the baggy until it reachs the flared part of the knob and leave it.I tape the bottom with clear packing tape and tuck in the corners on top, fold over and tape them.I also put tape over the push pads to help make more durable.
I have had no problems but refuse to use it in heavy rain anyway.Light rain no sweat.
I will post picture's if I rap it up again.

We have had a week soild rain with no break until sunday it sounds.Living in southern alberta this is not a common thing,semi-arid grass land's makes for soem real muddy fields/roads.

I just ordered the rain / dust cover thats in my post above ...... $17.70 total (includes shipping).
