Rain covers

How rain proof is the MXT? What do you guys use to protect your machines from the rain? Is it just the speaker holes you have to worry about?

Take out your MXT. Look at the battery cover. Does it look like a funnel for water to follow into the insides of the control box?. I covered the speaker holes with clear plastic poly tape, but I carry a couple plastic bags to cover the display and control box while I run for cover.Wish Whites would have made it waterproof or at least water resistant.

I agree Dennis,i do exactly the same thing as you.

Why not take advantage of the dust covers that are made for the MXT. Whites makes one for the display and one for the controls. They help cut down on dust that can hurt the machine. If rain is just spitting, no problem. But, you can take cover, before it pours. They are not water tight, but better than nothing.
I leave the dust covers on all the time as I am mainly in dusty playgrounds and parks.

Hmm,
I don't think White's makes covers for the MXT control box. At least I don't see it in their web site (they do have it for the XLT & DFX).
This is what I do. The LCD pod is just the right size for a sandwhich sized baggie and the control box I wrap in a plastic bag.

I do the same thing. Plastic bags are easy to carry in case of rain. I believe if White's made the MXT waterproof they would probably add 100.00 to the cost. Plastic bags workd great for me. HH,AF

Bought mine at Kellyco Detectors
They have both for display and control box.

Does the rain cover for the control box allow for easy access to the knobs and switches. I still have rain covers from my QXT-pro I had, but once the cover is on you are not able to make any ajustments.

Cora,
How does it work with the knobs and switches in the control box?
Can you post a picture?

Thanks Coral,
I can see where it would keep out most of the dust ...but rain could still get under the knobs and into the shafts.
I looked in Kellyco, but couldn't find it. Maybe my search skill are not good enough. Remember how much Kellyco sells them for?
