Hi Everyone:
I have been looking for a rain cover for the MXT, but it seems that all are for DFX, XLT etc.. I must be looking in the wrong place <img src="/metal/html/confused.gif" border=0 width=15 height=22 alt=":?"> , any suggestions?
Thanks
Joel

Kellyco has them but because of the knobs, the top is open. You can tape over the speaker grille if it makes you feel good. The alternative, which works well is a large plastic bag around the control box and a sandwhich bag over the pod.

Thanks Rudy, good idea on the plastic bag, I just didn't want to buy a cover unless I knew it would fit.

the sandwich bag as Rudy mentiooned works real well when it's raining. A ready made pod cover can be bought (I bought one some time ago) but it fits like socks on a chicken and leaves a space between the plastic in the cover and the display screen. That created a glare at times making it hard to read the display. The sandwich bag fits snug to the screen without the mirror effect. Wipe the water and dirt spots off the bag as you work w/out wiping the screen itself which could cause scratch over time.

I have the rain covers for the control box and the display. I purchased them from Kellyco. They basically suck. The cover over the display screen gets caught up on yur finger when pinpointing, and the one on the control box makes it difficult, if not impossible, to see the printing around the knobs. However, I am still glad that I have them because they are great for storing the detector. Also, sometimes when walking over to the park, or wherever, I don't like carrying the detector in the case that looks like a gun case. So, I put the covers on, and when I get to where I'm going, I take them off and throw them in my backpack.

You can take a rain cover for the xlt and modefy it. You have to take the controle knobs off and your rubber switch covers off, then slide the rain cover on then mark all switches and knob locations and use a leather pounch or soldering iron to open the holes. Then mark where your battery door is and cut a three sided cut so you can get your battery out.Now replace knobs and switch covers, you can wright your preset locations for knod&switches on the cover with white or gold in.
