Rail Way Relic

Hi everyone was out yesterday and dug up a lot of canslaw and side order of pull tabs and a few pennies to go with them. On my way to the other end of this field and fighting off the mosquitoes that can suck your blood dry I got a hit on this object. It was strange which was a small hit. I dug down 4 inches and came up with a Rail car mechanics wheel gauge from the Grand Trunk Rail Road which was abandoned and the line taken over by CN Rail. This was standing straight up and down and I had my heart skip as I thought it was old coins.......The one on top is the old one and the bottom is my wheel gauge for my work.

Thanks for having a peek

Happy Hunting

Steve

Yes I am. Ontario City of Kawartha Lakes. We hunt old abandoned rail way stations or towns. The abandoned lines were originally built by William McKenzie. He use the Scottish rail system here which was smaller tracks in width (don't quote me on this) I just know the tracks were different. Canadian National Railway bought all the rail lines that McKenzie built. Now there are the old rail beds that can be seen and some of the old rail stations can be found as well. The Town I live in back in the early 1900's this town was a very busy town and had mail delivery 4 times a day!!! Infact just at the next block is the old mill that is still standing..........
