Radio Shack's wireless headphones

John(Tx)

New member
Went to Radio Shack today with the intention of buying a set of wireless headphones. I read on these forums where Radio Shack # 33-1253 wireless headphones would work well with metal detectors. The salesman assured me that they would not work because they relied on 110v power to work, I am at a loss. Just thought I would ask to see who uses these headphones, was the salesman just misinformed? Thanks, John

I have two sets of them and they work great. They are behind the head earphones. They have recharable batteries in the head phones and one in the small transmitter. It uses 110 to charge the batteries in your earphones and the transmitter. The number is 33-1253. Buy you a small pig tail to go with them and a 1/4" to 3mm jack so you can plug it into your detector earphone jack. I have a stero and a mono 1/4' to 3mm jacks and I forgot which machine you have to use the mono one on. Anyway you can figuar it out. I love mine and works great in the woods no cord hanging up on me. :D: :D: Jerry aka Tinfoil

I have two pair also and one of them is mounted on my "Tejon" they are slick little units.....This is just a pic to show you what they look like I have a short cord with the proper connectors like Jerry said but a right angle 1/4 to 1/8 plug will work just fine...HH...Geo

This pic I took right after I got the phones to try them out gotta remember tho I am a$$ deep in snow up here now and no detecting right now for me

[quote bryanaw]How long will a charge last on the wireless radio shack headphones?

Tony: It was reported to me by another user of the RS headphones the battery life is 12 hours, which should be good for anybody's day out hunting. I'd sure have a spare set along, though, because the number of beeps, amount of dscrimination, time pinpointing, etc. are going to affect the batteries considerably, one way or the other, I'd think.

Once weather breaks I'm going to give a set a try, though. Gives me time to wait for a RS Sale, where I've heard they go for as low as $45, instead of $60.

Hey John: If Donald Trump owned that Radio shack store, he'd have just two words for that guy:

You're Fired

i bought a pair for my discovery 3300 and when i used them the audio was very weak. using them on housestereo they did not last more than two hours before needing recharged. when i took them back the r.s.guy said why did you try them there not for detectors since thet run on 110v. had to show him how they worked!!! anyway looks like i had a bad pair and i will try again.
