Racer2 Headphone Jack Failing

Was detecting a ghost town on July 4th, and I thought my headphones failed on me.

This morning I tried several other sets and the results were all the same, sometimes I got sound and sometimes not. What's odd is that it doesn't really cut out like a loose wire or whatnot usually does, it just fades in and out.

I was thinking about opening the battery box to see if it's just a loose connection or whatnot, as it's a PITA to have to ship it back to (where????) just to repair the headphone jack.

Anyone else had this issue?

Wow that sounds odd but I'm sure Makro will take care of you :thumb: but go on there web site and there is a list of USA repair :)

Brian, call Metaldetector.com 800-446-0244 ask for Bill (digfella) and he will take care of ya.

Mine does the same, doesn't work, so I plug the phones in and out a few times and it comes good again, can be annoying but so long as it keeps coming good I can live with it.

This morning I opened the battery pod that holds the headphone connector and it looked like the cable that goes from the battery pod to the control housing was a little too tight. I was able to wiggle it around and no it looks like it's working but who knows how long that will last. I'm hoping to get to a little hunt tonight, and see if it holds out if, not I'll have to ship it back to get it repaired.

I have seen this issue come up before and the person did as above opened it and fixed it themselves cant remember if solder was involved but its not catastrophic from all reports as in a self fix.

let us know how you get on.

Great advice!-----Be careful of "self repair"----or----"there goes the warranty".------Best to at least talk to the Co. & possibly send it in.-------The thing that really disappoints me is these early reports on the wireless h.p.'s they are coming out with. (that's another story though)
