Racer swing speed

New member
Does swinging too slow affect depth,or too fast?I think I have a normal swing, but sometimes I slow way down in trash, just wondering.

I think a slower swing would affect depth more. Usually when I get a weak signal with my OOR coil I will sweep the coil faster to amp the sound. If I go slower it gets worse.

Swing speed not exactly scientific, true you can go too fast; especially in heavy trash/iron. But when you hear something suspicious best to check with better positioning of coil and adjusted sweep speed.

I noticed during my farm field hunt in 2 tone a faster swing speed is required to get max depth.

Just swing and when you hear bing go back slow down and investgate:twodetecting:

In my humble opinion, the main factor is brain lag. The Racer will 'bing' with a pretty fast swing, its just hard to tell where it hit when you are speed swinging. I've been dirt fishing again with the Racer and finding it sometimes very hard to locate where that high ID bing came from. Swing speed is largely a matter of what works for you. There are various expert statements on faster vs slower for depth on the Racer, again see what you prefer.

Indeed, couldn't have said it better.

Thanks all,I'm getting a better understanding of this Machine. Its just so fast that I hafto slow down or I'm afraid I'll miss something, and I wasn't sure if a slow swing affected performance
