I'm excited too be recieve my Makro Racer today i'm going to get out with it on Sunday :detecting:. I'm not new to detecting at all i have used about every top brand out there but this is the first brand from over sea's but i'm very familiar with metal detectors and how they function so to me at first glance The Racer reminds me of the fisher line i have owned many of them but i know it isn't going to be the same operational wise. So how would i run this awesome unit and at what settings i know all detecting area's are different but where would a Good starting point be? Thank You :usaflag:

Well if it makes you feel better, I too have just received a Racer. It could not be any simpler to use. Your gonna love it. If you have swung any of the Teknetics line especially the T2, you will fall right in place with the Racer as the numbers are very similar on coins. The controls are easy. It might be a little noisey when you first turn it on but just turn up the disc until she quiets down a bit. Other than that, you do not have to worry about anything. All you have to do to ground balance it is to push the toggle switch forward, bob the coil until it beeps and that is it. First disc circuit has 2 tones and 2nd disc circuit has 3 tones. Just take her out and go to town and keep us posted on your finds!! HH, Tim

Thank You bigtime1973 I will like this unit I'm sure and thanks for the advice.

Sas, your going to enjoy swinging this unit. Hope you got the OOR coil as well. Really shines in the trashy spots and picks out the keepers. I went yesterday evening and wanted to hit such a spot. I hunted in TT, gain started at 80 but found 68 to run better. Disc at 5. I could hear what was going on as far as iron and tone was used over the numbers they were all over the place in that stuff. A good tone just jumps out and no mistaking. After time you will learn that it will blend the tones when a good target is in the mix and soon you will tell the difference between iron false and good target mixed in. Pulled two bullets out of that stuff and a few pc's of whatssit brass.

Let us know and HH

Thank You 3RINGER i will let everyone know how it goes.

Gratz. It will take a little getting used to but not too bad. Just remember, don't be afraid to turn the gain down in heavy iron. I can get up to 5 inches on gain 10 with the OOR and that's pretty good if you ask me. Also get Clives book, it's a must.

Don't be like many and give up on a great machine because you cant grasp it's language in 2 hours.

I just received my racer today also from Craig at showmetreasure, and can't wait to get it outside.I got the 5x10 instead of the oor coil, but the more I read about that little coil,I guess I'm gonna hafto get one.Whats the depth on the oor coil?good luck with your new machine guys.hh

I use the 5x10 in place of my stock coil and its great. I find that my OOR will get around 6-7 inches in 3 tone on an Indian using 80 gain 10 ID filter. I air tested the OOR at 15 gain and on a silver quarter I can get a repeatable at 5 inches. I can't say enough about this detector. I liked my AT Pro but is hangs on the wall now.

I've now had my Racer one month. I'm really liking it as a compliment to the turf detectors I already own and know very well. I also have a few more new keepers to post up, today was good

Wow, my post is missing much of what I put into the body ? Darn mobile device + my finger....and that red wine after dinner:surprised:
Anyway I do remember mentioning to take the advice given here by those that have had it for months and buy cjc's book. You need to go into this racer thing with an open mind or at least try to because it's such a different animal. The oor is some cool tool in trash and even with the stock coil it does well in junk. For fun put a rusty nail on top of a silver dime and check the signal response. The Racer is not a depth monster in my soil or test plot but this thing could unmask the Lone Ranger !
