Racer 2 ????????

Mostly a water hunter I'm very interested in a Racer 2. Why? It just looks like a fun and powerful land machine that I can use on salt beaches too. Am I fooling myself... Just how good is the Racer on a damp/wet saltwater beach, say compared to my FBS Safari, or even my 705? Clearly the Racer 2 can hit gold chains FBS machines can't see- quite impressive! The Excalibur has found the most gold for me in the sea by far because it's efficient, although not as deep as a good PI. But on the beach what will I really be giving up using a Racer 2 vs. an FBS/BBS?

On the plus side using the Racer on the beach, it will be lighter, faster responding, better for night hunting and clearly more sensitive to smaller gold jewelry. One good Racer necklace/chain find that's blind to my Safari could pay for the Racer! I'm thinking of using the larger 15.5X13 coil for depth and smaller coils for micro/jewelry. Before I plunk down $950+ for an R2, your opinions are greatly appreciated. SH34.

I used mine for about 8 hours this week on several different beaches here on the West Coast of Florida and its impressive. From the towel line down to the surf it will ground balance at 00 to 01 and remains very stable in wet sand and into the surf. I used sensitivity between 70 and 80 with two tone and was impressed at the quick target response and the depth in wet sand. A joy to use.....

I used my R1 at a wet salt water beach this winter after a big erosion event at an older beach, and I was VERY pleasantly surprised at how well it did. My hunting buddy was using an Explorer2 and there wasn't anything he could hear that I couldn't. The only thing that I found was that I had to slow down a bit, and then the finds started coming that others were missing. Even black sand didn't slow it down.

Clearly it's not going to be as deep as a PI machine, but it's a very impressive VLF, particularly when you factor in it's price.

I unloaded my Sov Gt since my red racer did so well on the beach. Got a R2 coming and I'll keep the red one for a beach machine only.

Dears : makro racer 1 that i was used it on land and also around the beaches , sorry about my not clear English , but believe me the original racer so good and can catch everything better than garrett at pro because i have also at pro and the different between two machine , the Makro Racer have more sensitivity and more depth so i think the racer 2 it will be more good why because you can notch or ignore any multiply metal and it have more options so when you want to use it around the beaches please use small search coil ,

MRP, don't worry I hear you loud and clear! I agree completely although I like the 5x10 and 11 in dry sand. I have found quarters 6 to 8 inches deep in wet salt sand at the beach. As good or better than any single frequency vlf I have used on the beach.
