Racer 2 for gold detecting????

Hey Bill.
I would like to know that too. I was hoping to test one, but i'm not an official tester. Hopefully someone will give it several runs for some gold so we can see how it does. I know several prospectors in western US that ive talked to about it. But nobody is pulling the trigger on buying one yet. Me neither till I see some proff.

The Racer 2 should be a good nugget hunter.
I had the original Racer and it was a competent nugget hunter.
The R2 is the same detector only more options like the iSat that will help dial in your
threshold for nugget shooting.
My R2 should be here tomorrow and I already have the Gold Racer.
I plan on using both this summer for nugget shooting.

Hopefully you can tell us how it does for gold bryan. I know 1 guy that has tried it for gold in medium to bad soil and he said it was very noisy in all metal, and some other modes. He has a gold racer and said it does alot better in the same ground. But that is all I heard so far. I do know that my gold racer and a couple friends, our gold racers do not get the same astonishing depth on air test as Racer 2. I have a velox one that I bought after seeing the companies air test video. It gets identical air test results as new racer 2. But my velox struggles with goldfield soils. So you have to turn it down some to calm it down. Then you loose all that depth.

I probably shouldn't have assumed the Racer 2 is the "same detector only more options" like I said in my post above.
Who knows what else was tweaked when they designed the R2.
I was only able to go nugget hunting twice last summer but the original Racer ran just fine both times.
My plan was to use the Gold Racer for most of my nugget shooting but break out the R2 and big coil for tailing piles
thinking the lower frequency might be better for the deeper bigger nuggets.
I don't know if my thinking will hold up in real life though.
Can't wait to find out!
Bryan

You probably will do good with racer2 for those tailings. Especially taking advantage of the disc abilities for all the junk usually found in them. Hope your plan does you well. Good luck

I've taken the R2 to a few tot lots and have done some gold testing. I am very happy with the results.
