Racer 2...first run  :usaflag:

I just received my new/used Racer 2 yesterday afternoon and took her out for a test run. I only used the default settings as I had a limited amount of time to spend at this new site.
I was not disappointed.

The Racer 2 pulled out 2 Indians (1891 & 1905)...2 V nickels (1903 & 1912)...and 3 Wheats (1917, 1941 & 1944). I hunted about an hour total.

Now...in all fairness...this was NOT a hunted out site. I just got permission to hunt this old home a couple of days ago. The whole yard has been razed and the dirt spread out. I'm not sure but I think this home was built in the late 1880's or 1890's. It is a two-story Southern mansion with a huge yard. As time allows I will go back and hunt it more. The house is being restored and so is the yard. The owner gave me his permission to hunt it while I can. I don't think it has ever seen a metal detector before.

I did make a short hunt on it yesterday morning prior to receiving the Racer 2 yesterday afternoon. I used a Deus and a Explorer SE Pro. I only found 2 coins with those units...a 1890 & 1902 Indian. Again I was limited on time. I maybe hunted about an hour then also.

Some newer clad was also found...but I won't mention it any further.

Now I ask one question....Where is the Silver?

That's a great start! I'm super happy with my R2.

I have a theory, on that , In yards with short or dirty ground when silver got lost it was easily seen and picked back up but the pennys are a dirt color already so got missed , I find this same thing on my 30,s shack no silver just pennys , when i find a silver I will be very surprised

Of course it is nice to have permission to a private site that has a lot of history to offer, but it can be a waste of time with a wrong detector.

The micro Racer 2 and Nokta FORS Relic are my two primary-use detectors. For most of my urban Coin Hunting I first grab the Racer 2. Your renovation project sounds like it has a lot to offer and I wish the two of you (that being you and the Racer 2) the best of success on future visits. Keep us posted.

Monte

Thanks Monte...I'll keep everyone posted about my finds and try to get some pics up also. The coins are so encrusted and I have to soak them before cleaning.

I haven't been back out there since Friday afternoon as we have been getting a lot of rain all weekend and I'm sure the yard is a mud hole right now. Rain isn't expected to let up until late Tuesday.

The Racer 2 is doing a better job for me than the other detectors I have mentioned. Funny thing though...I have lots of experience with those other two units but practically none on the Racer 2. Go figure.

For the detectorist, silver, like gold, is where you find it.....keep going, you're doing well with the R2 so far.

I think that's part of the genius behind the R1/R2, a beginner or novice can hunt like a pro with it in no time, but give it to a pro and look out

All I can say it wow..with the water you will get a lot of iron hits that may not hit when it's dry..so dig the iron you will find a lot of cool stuff
