Racer 2 arriving today!!!

As long as UPS honors my delivery change to "deliver to a neighbor".
I put my apartment office address lol.

Gonna start with either the stock coil or the 5.5x10. got some hours (not many) in with my Nokta relic so I understand the machine for the most part, but the VDI scale is a little off. I like that iron is only 1-10. More expanded on the rest.
Was supposed to go search my buddies backyard. He had cement on his entire back yard besides a circle where the pool was. We removed it last week. Was hoping to get in there before he put down the new soil for the sod, but he is saying the dirt guy is coming early and putting it down this afternoon so it looks like I won't be able to have my first run with it there :-( .
Cement has been there since at least the 80s so I really wanted to know what was under there!! Sad.
I'll have to go to a park!!

Well besides a small hiccup with the coil cover missing for my 5.5x10 coil, all arrived safe and well.
Took it out with the stock coil for about a half hour.
Couple coins and misc. Garbage, but can't wait to take it out to a park near me. VDI numbers will take some getting used to but I printed off that page from the online manual and put it in a sandwich bag and keep it in my pocket until the become more familiar.

With the oor coil I ususallly don't get any Id on coins more than 4 inches deep, good audio though.i will say 96 is always deep iron for me,even when the numbers are jumping from 88 and then a 96 ,its iron.

Yeah---I ordered two 5X10 DD coils for our Racers from my dealer for my wife & I.----He had them sent to me from his distributor (along with a Racer 2) that I had purchased.----When they arrived, the 5X10 were each in their own boxes and neither one of them had coil covers.-----These coils are supposed to have coil covers included.----What's going on with those coils being sent out without the covers??--------Anyway----make sure you don't use your 5X10 coil until you get a coil cover for it.----Those 5X10's are made out of very light material and wear VERY easily.-----You definitely need to use coil covers on them.-----------Del

All it takes is a quick call to the distributor and the coil cover is on its way.
But I agree about not running it without the cover.
Luckily my rotors relic's 5.5x10 has identical cover. I can use that until it arrives.

Funny that Nokta coils don't come with hardware or cover but the makro do (or supposed to)

Distributor said they are supposed to come from the factory with cover in the box. Seems to be an ongoing issue.
I politely asked them to go through their stick by hand to double check so as to avoid the next person that orders one doesn't have the same issue. Plus they won't have to pay for shipping for the cover after.

All is well that ends well. Should receive my cover by Wednesday/Thursday. U til then I can borrow the one off my relic (which is actually a makro one anyway because I couldn't find the cover for the relic and file said they are the same)

be sure to put in ample time, with each search coil and different search modes, to get a good feel for the Racer 2.

I use the smaller coils the most on the Racer 2's, either the 'OOR' coil or the 5½" round DD types, but will now use a 5½X10 more often as I got one for another Racer 2.

I use the 5½X10 coils on the Racer series and FORS series models for low-to-modest trash environments, and also when my main junk to deal with is iron nails or similar behaving cut wire.

I do have the thin coil covers on all my search coils, but they are not really needed. I don't scrub my search coils because it is ill advised. It causes friction which can interfere with a controlled sweep speed, the abrasiveness can wear a coil/coil cover out in a hurry, and it can impair detection depth and EMI issues. Plus, I operate my search coifs ± 2" (usually 1" to 1½") above the ground.as noted in their User Manuals.
