Racer 11" coil Problem

I just bought a Racer Pro two weeks ago.. Been out maybe six times with it, I like it a lot, so the other day the 11" coil started to over load for no reason I would ground balance it start to detect it would over load lifted it in the air still was over loading had to turn it off back on. anyway it kept doing it. Went to a different location same thing. Put the 5" on for the first time everything ok. I know it's the Coil been doing this to long happened on a Fisher 11" got moisture in it from the dew on the grass. Called left message with their answering service from were i bought it told them I e-mailed Makro also. I have not heard anything from were i bought it. Makro sent me a e-mail told me to video tape it send it to them. I have a flip phone no camera. E-mailed them back told them, Have not heard a word from them been about 3 days. I don't what to have to go threw all this only two weeks old. Just want to sent it back so they can fix it. Anyway i will give them until monday. Point is you spend money they want to give you the run around. I just don't get it. Big name dealer i bought from. They could a e-mail me to see if i heard anything from Makro or even take care of it themself

Thanks Bill

Hey Bill,
All I can say is Makro will send you a new coil if you can get them a video. Same thing happened to me. (See my post a few down).
I used my phone to film the issues I was having, post on you tube a sent them a link. They sent me a new coil the next day.

I feel your frustration.

Thanks for the info read it just now lol. Dealer I bought it from contacted be today said send it in they will send me a new one. Guess better than nothing. Would have to get someone with camera phone to do it for me all i got is a flip phone no camera on it,

Well, they ARE taking care of the problem for you. In the meantime, you can use the
detector with your 5" coil. You'll get the new coil pretty quickly, based on my experience
getting problems solved from Makro or the US distributor. And you had the option of
finding some friend, neighbor, or relative who had the capability of making a quick video
for you. Nearly ALL digital cameras, even the cheapest ones, in the last 10 years can
make a video. (Not to mention all smartphones in the last 3-4 years or so.) So I don't
think it's unreasonable to ask you to provide a video that demonstrates the problem.

I had a problem with my Racer that could be demonstrated with two still photos.
I emailed them to the Makro support guy in Turkey and he shipped the new part to m
the same day. I got it three days later. I thought that was excellent responsiveness.
But maybe I'd feel differently in my problem needed video to demonstrate the problem,
and I couldn't find anyone who could make a video for me. (I don't think I know anyone
who could NOT make a video for me.)

I'm not trying to criticize. I'm just pointing out another user's experience.

I would of got someone to do it. The coil just keeps overloading i have to turn it off back on again. Once the overload sounds you can lift the coil in the air and it will not go off. My phone is a old flip phone i buy time to put on it. Guess i will have to upgrade it. Put the 5" coil on works great. I think it's the best detector for the money you can buy. I do like the 11" coil can't wait until Detk or Nel makes a coil for it.

Some of us older folks have no idea how to send videos, or how to use a phone for that. That Sir is just a plain old fact !!
Even if I had video on my phone..You could put a gun to my head and threaten me.. I still couldn't do it................LOL

Yes, I realized after I posted my message that the problem might not be limited to
having difficulty making the video, but also figuring out how to email it and also
finding the email address of the Turkish support person. Sorry if I made it seem
like those were simple. I know they aren't for everyone.

But that's why we old guys have children, grandchildren, nephews, and young
neighbors! The best solution is probably to find one of these people, and to ask
him or her, "Hey, could you help me make a short video of me using my metal
detector, and show me how to email it to someone?"

Chances are they will whip out their phone or digital camera, and you'll get the
whole thing done pretty quickly.

By the way, the email address of support in Turkey has been posted here before, but
as a reminder, it is:
